Camp Information

AGE LIMITS: There will be a junior, intermediate, and senior division at camp with three separate programs (dependent upon enrollment). Any child from ages 10-17 is eligible for enrollment. Exceptions to the age limit may occur pending approval of the director. Ages 10-11, juniors; Ages 12-13, intermediates; Ages 14+, seniors. Campers are permitted to move between groups upon request.

FEE: The cost is $560 for residents and $360 for commuters per week. Families with two or more enrolled will receive a $30 discount for each additional child. Only one discount per family. The camp will provide room, board, use of college facilities, camp shirt and insurance. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BALL. (Soccer balls will be available for $20 purchase. All Soccer ball orders must be paid for at the time of registration.)

INTRUCTIONS: All phases of soccer will be covered with the emphasis being placed on the development of skills, techniques, and an understanding of the game. All instructors are qualified, experienced individuals. We hope to develop in each camper not only skills, but an understanding and love for the game of soccer. Full-time trainers will be in attendance at all times. A complete written evaluation will be given to each student at the end of the week's training.

GOALKEEPER TRAINING: Small group and individual training sessions with an experienced staff will cover all aspects of goalkeeping. Morning training sessions will focus on the technical breakdown of diving, handling of crosses, distribution and shot handling. Afternoon and evening sessions will put goalkeepers in match-like situations to showcase the progress made in the technical sessions.

RULES AND REGULATIONS: All persons enrolled for the camp will be required to attend all training sessions and to comply with the rules and regulations governing the camp. Any violations are abuse of these rules and regulations and could cause immediate dismissal from the camp without refund.

SPECIAL FEATURES: A lighted artificial turf surface will be available for all-star night games and extra technique training. Trophies will be awarded for league champions and cup champions. An all-star team will be selected in each age group. There will also be a trip to Colonial Williamsburg on Wednesday afternoon (FREE).

PREFERRED ROOMMATES: We will try to accommodate all campers in terms of having them roomed with friends, siblings or relatives. Roommate requests must be received TWO WEEKS prior to the camp beginning. Otherwise we may not be able to assign the requested roommate.

ENROLLMENT PROCEDURE: Upon receipt of your application form, you will be sent a confirmation letter giving information on what you will need to bring to camp, directions to the dorm, important telephone numbers and a medical history form (camper information form). It is important that the balance due has been paid and the medical history form is on file two weeks prior to your arrival at camp.

TEAM TRAINING: Teams will be accommodated and trained as a team throughout the week. There will be a $30 discount per person if 11 or more players sign up as a team. You must attend the same week of camp in order to receive this discount. Teams will be trained by the same coach throughout the week. Topics covered will be: Building attacks from all areas of the field; Combination play, creating and finishing chances; Defending from the front, in midfield and at the back; Attacking and defending at set plays; Holding a high defensive line and operating an offside trap.

PREVIOUS COACHES: Kwame Lloyd (Christopher Newport); Jeff Bowers (Virginia Wesleyan); April Kater (Syracuse, Region One, U16 National Team assistant coach, Colorado College assistant coach); Kerry Smith (UMBC Assistant Coach); Kristopher Rake (Marshall Assistant Coach) Kevin Denson (W&M, Kempsville H.S., Region One); Craig Powers (Kellam H.S.); Bryan Williams (VMI Head Coach); Adam Schultz (Kempsville H.S., Virginia Beach Soccer Club).
